If John Collins is just gonna keep scoring 20 points seemingly every game like this, I’m gonna have to put some tighter restrictions on his highlights. Because right now, he’s getting a vid every game. When that starts happening, I know I need to either be more selective (maybe he has to score 22 now to get a vid, or 23) or just take him out entirely. And I’m not doing that second one until he becomes an All-Star.
Which he will. This year. As stated previously, I can think of only a scant few forwards better than him in the East right now. I think my list was Antetokounmpo, Leonard, and Griffin. I’ve been doing more thinking and you can Domantas Sabonis to that list, but that dude is never gonna sniff an All-Star game until he changes his name to Arvydas, so you can forget about that.
Sure, giving an All-Star berth to a guy not averaging 20 on one of the worst teams in the league, is kinda weird, but the truth is, you have to reward the best players with an appearance. And that means Collins.
I think he improved his three-point percentage by like 5 whole points just with this game, by the way. That’s the great thing about shooting 26 percent on triples; when you make a few, it’s almost impossible for your percentages not to go up. Unless you’re Giannis.
