At what point do we say that Ryan Broekhoff is too good for my channel? I’ve been promoting him since the beginning of his career with the Mavericks, I think he’s a great player (that’s actually the problem here), but he just keeps having these big games. When he dominated fellow countryman Ben Simmons with a devastating fastbreak block, that was the moment I thought “this guy is an MVP candidate”. MVP candidates, obviously, have no place in the hallowed halls of DownToBuck’s Highlight Archivium.
I caved and made a video for this one, because I’ve been in the Broekhoff highlights game for to long to just stop right now, but this is almost the last straw. If he has another monster game like the one he had tonight, or if he ever dunks it again, that’s it. I’ll be done with him. DawkIns can have him, and I’ll keep cheering him on from the sidelines, proud of his ascendancy into the elite of the NBA.
He did it all tonight. He hit tough threes. He dunked. He assisted dunks like Luka Doncic could only hope to do. And he set back inter-Melbourne relations 100 years by destroying Simmons’ layup attempt. This was a complete game for him, and I loved making the video. But if he does it again… oh man. I’m not ready to say goodbye.
