Here’s the deal: I just checked Wikipedia and it says, and I’m paraphrasing here, that there are “a whole frickin’ ton” of people living in the New York City metropolitan area. Just so many human beings, and you know what? I bet most of them have some way to vote for the All-Star game. Maybe a few don’t, but do we really care about a hobo’s opinion on who should get to play? No. But all those people, all those millions (billions?), they could be voting D’Angelo Russell into the All-Star game, and they aren’t. They just aren’t.
Do they not realize that the voting is going on? That’s the problem with a lot of elections; they happen without much fanfare and then you realize you missed your chance to write-in your funny joke candidate (can someone please tell me CLEARLY next time when the presidential elections are?). Or, in this case, they’re going to miss their chance to see Brooklyn Nets star point guard and world-renowned snitch represent their area in the finest exhibition game the NBA has to offer.
But I don’t think it’s an issue of awareness. I think it’s an issue of apathy. VOTER APATHY. These people don’t even care about how Russell is averaging like almost 20 points a game and isn’t even a bust anymore. I’m certainly aware, which doesn’t help him, because I’m busy casting 10 votes a day plus more with my vast array of proxies and VPNs for D.J. Wilson.
