Imagine blocking somebody so hard that you injure yourself. That’s what Derrick White did when he blocked Jerami Grant at the rim in the second overtime of this thrilling matchup. It was actually more like Grant injured him since it was Grant’s elbow that made contact, but it’s more fun to think about it in terms of White putting it all on the line, doing everything needed and more to make sure the team wins, and hurting himself in the process.
White looks like a doll under most circumstances. I think somebody commented this on one of my previous videos for him and it resonated with me (there is a remote chance that this is an original thought, but I don’t think so). So when he got a cut on his forehead and blood was pouring (okay, more like “dripping”) down his face, he still looked like a doll, but he looked like one of those deranged murderous dolls you see in horror-comedy movies. Like a Chucky or something.
(OFFICIAL DTB DISCLOSURE: I have not watched any of the Chucky movies. NBA highlights have replaced movies in my life.)
On another subject entirely, I would say that this game from White was so good that it has completedly altered my expectations of him. 23 and 8 is legit. Full stop.
