I feel like, if you’re a Cedi Osman fan, this is the season where you’re going to want to pay attention to him. It’s like the perfect storm for him getting minutes. LeBron just left, opening up a huge hole in the rotation that needs to be filled with a warm body, plus, the Cavs suck, which means there is no incentive to limit the minutes allocations to only good players. All players, both good and bad, are free to get minutes this season.
Despite some indications to the contrary, the Cavs won’t be trash forever. Eventually, they will be competing for playoff spots, and when that happens, players like Osman aren’t going to be getting thirty minutes per game unless they show significant improvement. They’ll be backing up players who are actually good. For now, though, there’s no expectation for players to play well, so Osman can shoot whatever shots he wants with the only repercussions being a hit to his advanced stats.
So, as I mentioned earlier, there’s no guarantee that Osman ever plays this much ever again. Turkish people had better watch and cherish these games because Prime Osman could be happening right now.
