From my outside perspective, it seems like Raptors fans oscillate between who they want as their backup PG behind Kyle Lowry. One day it’s Fred VanVleet, the next it’s Delon Wright, the one after that it’s Lorenzo Brown (just kidding I know all Raptors fans hated that guy but the good news is that now he’s gone forever, at least until he re-emerges on a 10-day with the Suns). Maybe VanVleet has a bad stretch of games, that’s when everyone emerges saying that Wright is way better. And then Wright comes in, is his usual not-all-that-exciting self, and people start demanding more VanVleet minutes. It’s a cycle born from the fact that neither player is as good as Lowry.
Lucky for them, I have the perfect solution: get rid of both of them, to the Bucks, in exchange for Thon Maker! That way they don’t have to think about which one is better, they can just forget about the whole situation. As an added bonus (because we’re all about additional bonuses here), Maker has no chance to terrorize the Raptors in the playoffs anymore because he’ll be on their team! If you can’t beat ’em, make ’em join you and then you don’t have to worry about it.
