I watched much of this game live, which is a change of pace for me, given that I form most of my opinions on NBA basketball by looking at box-scores and making up stuff that sounds good in my head. When Luka “Lukadris” Doncic had that behind-the-back dribble to Dwight Powell for the alley-oop dunk, I literally exclaimed out loud, “He’s too damn good. Luka’s too damn good for my channel.” My little kitty Japurri Purrker, who had been curled up next to me asleep, woke up and looked at me for a few seconds before re-curling himself and going back to sleep. Then I felt guilty for waking him up. I hope he forgives me.
Luckily for all the Doncic fans out there, I’m seeing this through until he becomes an All-Star. Since an All-Star berth is basically guaranteed for him at this point, I’ll be making highlight videos for him until mid-February. Then, Doncic will celebrate a deserved graduation to the big leagues, and Dawkins can have him until he finally declines back to DTB levels around age 36 or so. That’s how I envision the timeline going. If Doncic doesn’t make the All-Star team, then he gets highlights until the end of the year, OR until he starts averaging 20/5/5 like a prime (rookie) Tyreke Evans.
Wait. You mean to tell me that Doncic is averaging 20/5/5 right now, right at this very moment? Okay. Let’s make it 25/5/5. I don’t think he can average those numbers this season, but you never know. Honestly, I wouldn’t be surprised by anything this dude does anymore.
