First off, I am fully aware that Pascal Siakam had nineteen rebounds in this game. They are not represented in the title of the video because they are not represented in the video itself. The NBA play-by-play videos will allow you to view all of his rebounds if that’s what is arousing to you.
Secondly, there has been some talk (mostly among the Raptors fanbase, which is undisputedly the most vocal and annoying fanbase in the NBA, even surpassing the considerable vocality and irksomeness of Warriors fans) that Pascal Siakam is kind of having an All-Star-ish season right now. They want to see him in the All-Star game next to Kawhi.
This seems outrageous bordering on frivolous at first glance: Siakam is only a third year player, and his first two seasons were fine, but not outstanding. He’s doing better this season and is a candidate for MIP Improved Player with his 15/6 averages, but All-Star? Pssht. No way.
Then you start thinking about it: there aren’t a ton of good forwards in the East. That’s why somebody like John Collins should be a lock, because his raw numbers are just way better than the raw numbers of all the other PF’s in the conference. Siakam doesn’t have the raw numbers that somebody like Collins has, but he’s playing on a winning team, and his percentages are nice. If I had all the All-Star votes and nobody else had any, Siakam wouldn’t be an All-Star, but he wouldn’t be the worst selection of all time. That would be Raptors legend Jamaal Magloire.
So, to summarize, Raptors fans have been loud and obnoxious and wrong about many things over the years, but the beastitude of Pascal Siakam is not one of them.
