John Collins 26 Points Full Highlights (1/15/2019)

John Collins did not miss a shot in this game until there were eight minutes left in the fourth quarter. From the beginning of this vid to the end (which is that possession), you are seeing all of his field goal attempts, both makes and misses. Truly, I am redefining the meaning of “Full Highlights”. On that last possession, he missed a layup, missed the subsequent tip-in, and then got it to go on the third try. So he scored, which is great, but he missed out on the “Thomas Bryant”, which is when a player hits 10 or more shots without missing. 12 for 14 is really nice, but 12 for 12 is way better.

In other news, I don’t know how the Hawks beat the Thunder so easily, but they did. The 50-point combo of Collins and Alex Len seems to indicate some sort of fatal flaw with the Thunder’s interior defense. I’m not really an X’s and O’s kind of guy, because that takes effort and effort is not really in my vocabulary, but I’m just going to assume that the Thunder couldn’t stop the pick-and-roll with Trae Young (but not Jeremy Lin, who must be getting traded or something because he didn’t even get to play) as the ballhandler.

I am now envisioning a reverse pick-and-roll with Collins as the ballhandler and Young as the roll-man. But even in my wildest fantasies, I can’t seem to make it work. Every time, Collins turns it over or Young fails to jump high enough for the alley-oop or something else happens to result in no points.
