Stacey King is right: Chandler Hutchison needs to be more aggressive. There’s no point being a low-volume low-usage non-factor on a team like the Bulls. Even if that’s what feels most comfortable to him, like he’s content to be a Tony Snell with some extra rebounding for the rest of his career, he needs to just shoot more shots. I promise not to be hard on him if and when he starts taking those shots and missing most of them. What’s that quote from Wayne Gretzky? You miss 100 percent of the shots you don’t take. How a sportsperson with a hockey-addled brain ever came up with that gem, I’ll never know, but it really applies here.
Just by himself, without any on-court attributes, he looks like a great player. He’s tall. He’s got a nice skin color. His hairline is PERFECT. He can run and jump and be basketball-player shaped. He kinda looks like Scottie Pippen too, which is like perfect for Chicago. When he actually starts playing, it’s a different story, but there’s a lot to like there, too.
He now has three consecutive double-digit scoring games: 11, 12, 12. You’re look at the last 12 right now, which is the best one because he made 6 shots to get that many points. 6 shots that all showcased his shot-making ability, shots that you wonder why he can’t take many more of them per game.
