I will continue thinking that Lonzo Ball can be a pretty good low-usage PG up until the moment he gets shipped off to China so he can steal sunglasses like his brother, get arrested, and plays for the local Uyghur Muslim internment camp team (I hear they’re always looking for American talent). No matter how bad he plays, no matter how wonky his jumpshot or how damning his advanced stats, with or without LeBron, with or without Anthony Davis (multiple sources), I will always have faith in him. I don’t know why. Normally I don’t like overhyped players like him, but there’s something different here.
Perhaps if I were an actual Lakers fan instead of a Bucks fan, I would get disillusioned with him very quickly. Watching him brick every free throw he takes nowadays and play passively for long stretches would take its toll, and I’d be clamoring for Rajon Rondo to take some of his minutes. How messed up is that? I hate to admit that I’d ever be clamoring for Rondo to do anything except die, but this hypothetical scenario could be it.
