The great thing about highlight videos on YouTube is that it means you don’t have to slog through depressing games played by the team your favorite player is on to enjoy said favorite player. Like, imagine you’re in a country, I don’t know what that country is, maybe it’s more like a region, whatever, but let’s say that you’re there and your favorite player is Cedi Osman. Great! Osman is an exciting young talent. But as an Osman fan, you might feel compelled to stay awake at odd hours to catch Cavaliers games which they are guaranteed to lose. And not only that, but they could lose while Osman himself also has a bad game. And then what? You just wasted a whole bunch of time watching a team you don’t even like just to see your favorite player throw up bricks and hardly impact the game.
Highlights solve all of that. You can spend a few minutes watching the highlights (a few minutes extra if you find one of those devoted channels who make “all possessions” highlights), and that’s it! All the enjoyment of your favorite player with none of the pain. You might miss some context, or the highlight-compiler might miss some cool plays (I apologize, but at least I’m pretty sure I got all the three-pointers), but you also miss Collin Sexton playing like the worst player in the league.
Yeah, you’re welcome. Osman had a really nice scoring game tonight, showing off the results of the teachings of the long-departed Kyle Korver. With a pair of mentors like Korver and LeBron James, it’s hard to see how this kid doesn’t become a stud within a few years. Right now, he’s barely passing the eye test while advanced stats hate him, but 25 points? That’s a legit amount of points right there.
