I’ve seen a lot of names bandied about for the “final” Eastern Conference All-Star spot. Apparently there’s enough consensus All-Stars this year to fill up the whole roster except for one spot. And who should that spot go to? I think I saw Zach Lowe say it should be Eric Bledsoe, which, while it’s great that he’s respecting Milwaukee or whatever, is the stupidest thing I’ve ever heard.
Because right now, RIGHT NOW, not in the future or in the past, but at the present time, a studmuffin by the name of John Collins is averaging 20 and 10 basically. More like 19 and 10, but what’s one point? Hardly anything, just one extra free throw per game. So we’ve got a 20 and 10 guy who is also only in his second year in the league, and maybe he’s on one of the worst teams in the league. But so what? It actually makes his stats MORE impressive, because he’s having to do his thing while Trae Young and Taurean Prince hang from his biceps and try to drag him down.
Ignore the incredible amount of sweet dimes Young has thrown Collins’ way. Believe me when I say, he’s holding him back.
All-Star voting is over now, in case you read this description and decided to try and get in a few more votes for one of the best (if not the best) power forwards in the East. Not like it would matter, anyway. I don’t know how much the NBA takes fan voting into account, but if it’s any amount at all, D.J. Wilson is going to make it in. I think I voted for him several hundred million times because I left my voting script (set to “DEEJ”) running uninterrupted for like a whole month.
