Terry Rozier has drawn the ire of Celtics fans this season thanks to his overall badness. His improved shooting from last season had regressed, perhaps due to a lessened role that he hasn’t quite adjusted to. In fact, his “Scary Terry” nickname has officially been revoked, simply because he is no longer “scary”. That leaves only the “Terry” part of the nickname, and it’s not a nickname if it only contains your real name and nothing else.
Well, Rozier took one step on the path towards re-earning that nickname, as he torched Collin Sexton and the Cavs for 22 first-half points, bringing to mind his outstanding late-season and playoff performances from last season. Remember when Eric Bledsoe said he didn’t know who Terry Rozier was and then Rozier completely demolished him in the next game? This game reminded me strongly of that one.
We’ll see if this marks the proverbial “turning of the corner” for Rozier. He was shooting 34% from the field for the month of January (not counting this game), so it honestly wouldn’t take much to “turn the corner”. Just being a competent scorer would count, I think.
