I have been noticing for a while that French people aren’t doing a good enough job of flocking to my videos and increasing my view counts. Other European countries do just fine, and France used to do a better job of it, but now it’s like they don’t even care about basketball. Evan Fournier? Apparently they don’t care about that guy. Rudy Gobert? Nope, they don’t care. Tony Parker? They care a little bit, but not very much. Nicolas Batum? Well, he sucks now, so I don’t blame them for not caring.
There is, I believe, still a small amount of nationalistic fervor for Elie “Okobe” Okobo. Not much, but it’s still there in a way that it’s not for those other guys I mentioned. Maybe because he’s younger and viewed as having “potential”? Or perhaps the French media covered those other guys too much and caused the whole country to burn out on them, but they haven’t discovered Okobo yet since he’s a second-round draft pick getting limited minutes on one of the least successful teams in the league. The French version of ESPN probably has a hard time putting together a highlight package for Okobo that would be television-worthy.
What I’m saying is, I want more French people watching my videos. Everybody wins when French people watch more of my videos. French people get entertained, French players get more exposure, I get more views on my videos, and American viewers get to learn a new language by trying to decipher the comments on the video. Win-win-win-win.
