Corey Brewer 20 Points/1 Kick Full Highlights (1/26/2019)

When Corey Brewer started this season not on anybody’s roster, I was a little bit surprised. But only a little bit. We’re talking a miniscule amount of surprise, so small that it barely even registered on my emotional seismograph. In reality, he has never been a good player. He has been an okay player for a long time, but never a good player. Every time a new team traded for this skinny journeyman, I secretly (and publicly) laughed at the fans of the new team who were fooled by his 51-point game into thinking he was a good scorer.

So it wasn’t too surprising that the 76ers, hit by a sudden rash of injuries, went out and grabbed Brewer from his couch. Brewer is so used to changing teams that he can arrive in any new place and immediately integrate his spastic skinny-man drives and shaky three-point shot into whatever system the team is running. That’s probably his biggest positive attribute: the ability to adapt to new circumstances.

We can add a new positive attribute to that list after this game: the ability to dunk the ball and then take out an opposing player with a flying foot to the back of the head. Unfortunately, Brewer’s aim was a little off, and he didn’t hit Nikola Jokic as he expected. Also, his kick was strong enough to knock Torrey Craig down, but not strong enough to give him a concussion and take him out of the game. This will be a useful weapon for the 76ers once Brewer gets the technique down.
