Shabazz “Shabazzledazzle” is one of the biggest chuckers on the Nets, although you wouldn’t realize it when you look at the stats because his minutes are low and kind of sporadic. Only when you look at the roster’s scoring per 36 minutes does the trend become apparent: Napier (19.6) is just slightly behind the high-scoring guard trio of Russell (23.4), Dinwiddie (21.7), and LeVert (22.2 [RIP in peace]).
That a cluster of four guards provide a large chunk of the Nets’ scoring is interesting. If you throw Joe Harris in there, who is sixth on the team in scoring using per-36 stats, the scoring situation becomes even more heavily skewed towards guards. For wings, you’ve got Kurucs and Carroll and Dudley; none of those guys are considered premier scorers, except by Raptors fans, who love Carroll a lot and wish he would come back to their team.
So, should the Nets try to package one of their redundant guards in exchange for a useful wing player? My brain says yes, but my heart says no. This Nets team has won way more games than most people expected, and to break up their chemistry now would be cruel. It would legitimately upset me.
