Mike “Muscy Stench” Muscala isn’t even shooting 40% from the field this year. That’s not a good look for a big guy, since big guys are, by definition, closer to the basket than little guys, which means it’s easier form them to score. That’s just how the world works. The world works by discriminating against short people.
However, Muscy Stench is not a normal big guy. Even though I seem to remember his surprisingly decent inside/midrange game when he was with the Hawks, now he just spams three-pointers for the most part. His career arc actually very much resembles Brook Lopez’s career arc, minus the “being an all-star” part. “Spacing” has become such an obsession in front offices around the league that any stretch-five or stretch-four can be successful as long as they actually hit threes and aren’t just pretending to be able to hit threes. Muscala, with this three-point percentage roughly at the league average, does not fall into the “pretender” category.
Moving on to a different subject, can Muscala bring back his topknot now? It was lame back when everybody had one, but now it’s retro and cool. Aron Baynes has one and he looks retro and cool. I think. I actually have a very indistinct idea of what “cool” is, and it’s 90% sunglasses.
