Before the creation of this highlight video, I had no idea how to pronounce “Kenrich”. Was it “Kenrick” (like Kendrick minus the D) or “Ken-Rich” (like a dude whose first name is Kenneth Richard)? For some reason, I thought it was “Kenrick”, but I was still pronouncing it in my head as “Ken-Rich” even though I believed that to be the incorrect pronunciation, simply because “Ken-Rich” is the funner way to say it.
Well, DTB’s relatively unsullied track record of being correct about nearly everything remains intact, because Pelicans commentator Joel Meyers confirmed it to me many times: his name is pronounced “Ken-Rich”. Somehow I’m just so much of a genius that I got the pronunciation correct without even looking at his basketball-reference page or watching his college highlights or anything like that. I’m also so much of a genius that I know how to pronounce “Williams” without looking it up either. It’s “Will-Yums”. Not “Will-Yams” or “Willy-Ams” or “Will-Eye-Ams”. Somebody should grant me an honorary Ph.D in linguistics.
Williams had a good rebounding game in the previous contest, grabbing sixteen boards to go with eight points. The prospect of making that highlight video intrigued me, but I ended up turning down the opportunity. That turned out to be a good choice because 21 points is way, way more than eight. I can’t figure out exactly how many more because my brain doesn’t do math very good, but I know it’s a lot more.
