Let’s be upfront here: I only made this video because there is no way, NO WAY, that Jeff Green doesn’t get traded before the trade deadline which is now mere hours away. And I want to cash in on the views when it happens. The Wizards have shown no remorse with their trades in the last 24 hours, and Green doesn’t have enough cachet with the franchise to stay out of the crosshairs. There’s got to be some team who’s seen his recent stretch of scoring competency and is like “we need him for our playoff push”. Washington is making no such push. I don’t know exactly what it is that they are doing, but it’s not a playoff push.
Apparently, according to the fine folks at ESPN who for once were good for something, Jeff Green is the first ‘Zard since 1984 to score 20 or more points in four consecutive games off the bench. Now there’s a god-damn stat for you. I love that stat, because it makes Green seem like a record-setting player when he really isn’t. At all. Unless there’s an official NBA record for being addicted to benzos.
Right now Green is probably just staring at his phone as he waits for the inevitable. He’s seen half of his teammates get traded recently, and he knows the end is nigh. What is he feeling? Relief? Sadness? Anger? The real answer is: nothing. Because I don’t think he has emotions.
