Ivan “The Rabbi” Rabb has shown enough for the Grizzlies this season that I don’t think he should be getting DNP’s anymore. Not only should he not be getting any more DNP’s, he should also be getting at least twenty minutes per game. Will his Brandan Wright-esque efficiency take a hit when you start leaning on him a bit more for production? Probably. But the Grizzlies are just playing out the rest of the season at this point, so they might as well see what Rabb is capable of.
I have a feeling that I said similar things about Deyonta Davis near the end of the last season. The difference between Davis and Rabb is that Rabb tries all the time, I think. Davis definitely didn’t try all the time and that’s why he’s out of the league even though I thought he was pretty good. If the same fate befalls The Rabbi, I’m going to be upset. This isn’t like a Cliff Alexander situation where a highly-touted high school big man gets to the big leagues and it turns out he can’t play at all. Rabb can play. You’re watching evidence of it right now.
Speaking of failed Grizzlies big men of yore, what happened to Jarnell Stokes? Can some team bring him back for a few games just for old times’ sake?
