Frank Jackson 16 Points Full Highlights (3/15/2019)

I really appreciate basketball-reference for all the good work they do, but they’re really confusing me by calling Frank Jackson a “point guard” on his profile page. Not even “point guard and shooting guard”. Just “point guard”. Yet, when I make highlights for this guy, in no way does it seem like he’s playing as the point guard. At all.

Jackson’s assist numbers also make it seem like he doesn’t play point guard. He gets one assist per game. Even if you adjust the stats to pretend he’s playing the full game, he’s not even getting two assists per game. His season-high in assists in four, and he’s had many games without recording one. Every time I see him play, he is singularly focused on scoring the rock. The rock, when in his hands, is not meant to be passed to others. It is meant to be put through the orange ring that is mysteriously hanging ten feet above the surface of the court.

I don’t think Jackson is even a combo guard. He’s straight-up just a slightly undersized shooting guard. If Pelicans fans want to inform me otherwise, I will gladly assume that their opinions are more accurate than my opinions. However, that is unlikely to happen because 1.) my opinions are always right, otherwise they wouldn’t be my opinions and 2.) there are no Pelicans fans around to correct my ill-formed notions. So I guess I’m right by default.
