The Hornets’ 75 points against the Heat is tied for the third-lowest score for a team this season. Here are the games that have the dubious distinction of being just as bad or worse than this absolute stinker that the Hornets disgraced our eyeballs with:
1. Utah Jazz, 68 points (leading scorer: Ricky Rubio, 11)
2. Detroit Pistons, 75 points (leading scorer: Blake Griffin, 13)
3. Detroit Pistons, 75 points (leading scorer: Andre Drummond, 13)
The Hornets (and Jeremy Lamb, with his team-high 21 points) now have their name forever entered on this list of shame. In case you’re interested, there’s only been two other games where a team has scored fewer than eighty points.
5. Orlando Magic, 76 points (leading scorer: Jonathon Simmons, 18)
6. Chicago Bulls, 77 points (leading scorer: Shaquille Harrison, 20?)
Overall, I would say that this era of teams being offense-oriented is good for viewership and it’s good for my own personal entertainment. I swear one of those Brandon Jennings years the Bucks scored below eighty in like two-thirds of their games. That’s what it felt like, anyway.
