One of the best things you can say about Marvin Bagley right now, and there are a lot of them, is that if you aren’t paying real close attention, he kinda looks like Karl-Anthony Towns. He’s KAT with a hair puff on top. Their respective games aren’t very similar other than that they’re both bigs who can do all the offensive things that NBA bigs do (though Bagley needs to work on those threes), but that’s not the important part. The important part is that he could maybe sneak into a club with KAT’s ID.
We don’t want to make too close of a comparison, though, because KAT is maybe not a winning player as much as some would hope. We can deal with a lesser volume of stats on Bagley’s end if he proves himself to be a guy who leads his team to wins regularly. That was the problem with DeMarcus Cousins for all those years. Great stats, but no impact. Okay, some impact, but not as much as the stats would suggest.
I mean, the fact of the matter is that the Kings have already won more games this season than they ever did with Cousins, and there’s still a decent amount of games left. Am I sensing a culture shift in Sacramento?
