Here’s a question for discussion: has Josh Okogie LITERALLY been better than Andrew Wiggins in the past two games? Let’s take a looksie:
This game, Okogie had 19 points on 6-of-9 shooting. Wiggins had 20 points on 8-of-19 shooting.
Last game against the Rockets, Okogie had 21 points on 8-of-14 shooting. Wiggins had 14 points on 6-of-17 shooting.
Wiggins has been in a season-long slump, which makes this question more reasonable than it sounds on the surface. He’s been bricking all season. Okogie’s been bricking all season as well, but he doesn’t brick as often. While Wiggins ruins the team with his bricks, Okogie’s bricks are nowhere near team-ruining in quantity. I bet Okogie plays defense too. Wiggins only plays defense in Tom Thibodeau’s most private dreams (the ones where he wakes up sweaty and covered in…well, never mind what he’s covered in).
I was also careful to frame this question to only refer to the past two games. That’s because Okogie’s point totals in the eight games before that were 3, 2, 6, 6, 3, 2, 0, and 2. Then again, Okogie doesn’t feel to jack up endless shots, which leaves more shots for KAT. In that sense, Okogie is more valuable to the Wolves than Wiggins is because he’s not wasting possessions on his own stupid shot selection.
Man, I hope Wiggins picks it up soon so that this whole description looks like a big pile of misguided drivel. Watching him get outplayed by a rookie whose shot is heinously inconsistent makes me want to cry.
