Tomas Satoransky 16 Points/10 Assists Full Highlights (3/21/2019)

Tomas “Czech Your Privilege” Satoransky just keeps having these good games. He’s having good games so regularly that I am forced to come to the conclusion that he is actually a good player, and not just an average player punching above his weight due to a sudden abundance of playing time. This is his ninth game with double-digit assists, and while John Wall has had seasons where he averages double-digit assists, it’s still far from a guarantee in this league that your backup point guard will flourish like that when given the starting role.

The next step for Sato is to be more aggressive in looking to score. His season-high in points is 21. His season-high in field goal attempts is 13. I’m not going to check the stats, but Trevor Ariza probably has had at least five games with the ‘Zards this season where he attempted more than thirteen shots. Jeff Green probably has twenty such games. There’s no reason for Sato to take such a backseat in the scoring department when he’s shown that he can be effective at it. Just for one game, he should drive to the basket every time he gets the ball, or yank it back for one of those midrange jimbos that we saw in this game. If it doesn’t work out, he can always go back to his pass-first mentality for the next game.

The sad part about Satoransky being so good is that I can’t call him “Tomas the Tank Engine”. Well, I could, but it wouldn’t be fair, because Sato is way too good to help the ‘Zards with their tanking project. Same with Thomas Bryant. Life just isn’t fair.
