As a fan of a (newly) good team, I am beginning to understand why fans of good teams are so hostile to other good teams. These are new feelings for me, having never experienced a Bucks squad anything above the threshold of “pretty okay”. But now, I wish nothing but ill on the Celtics and their fans, the Raptors and their fans, and the 76ers and their “fans” (more like “battery-throwers”, am I right?).
So it makes me very happy, very happy indeed, to see Philly defeated by a ragtag squad of Hawks that featured zero All-Stars but a lot of spirit. Taurean Prince played a big role, scoring more points than he usually does (23 would be hardly anything for him last year, but this year is a whole different story, a story that is too long to tell) and hitting a blibbum with 27 seconds left to tie the game. The 76ers failed to even get a shot on the ensuing possession, and Trae Young finished things off with his buzzer-beating floater. Right after that shot, I promptly went on Twitter to see how many Philly battery-throwers were calling for Brett Brown’s termination.
It was a lot. It always is.
