After watching Emmanuel Mudiay play relatively well for the past two weeks, I feel comfortable making the following assertion with OFFICIAL OFFICIALITY: Mudiay will definitely be playing in the NBA next season, and not somewhere weird like China or Lithuania or India (where he would average 100 points and zero assists per game).
This outcome has not been certain for Mudiay’s time in the NBA. From a disastrous rookie season to an improved, but still mediocre, sophomore season to a third season where he’s looked like a playable player, there have been stretches of time where I thought to myself, “Nope. No team is going to take a chance on this guy when his rookie deal runs out.” Now I’m thinking to myself, “Yep, there’s some team in need of a backup point guard who will give Mudiay a shot. Also I wonder if you could make a giant-sized Pop Tart out of regular-sized Pop Tarts.”
Sure, Mudiay’s go-to scoring move is a low-efficiency midrange jimbo, but he’s shown to be relatively competent at other methods of scoring. At this point, there are plenty of other scrubs on rosters who are way scrubbier than Mudiay. That bodes well for him and his future NBA prospects.
Now, if you’ll excuse me, I need to make a trip to the breakfast foods aisle of the grocery store.
