Anyone who watched Seth Curry in Dallas knew that the Trailblazers would be able to withstand the injury to C.J. McCollum. Curry is basically the same kind of player, except his brother is way better (Errick McCollum did score 82 in a game in China, but that hardly compares to winning multiple MVPs and rings and having one of the greatest offensive seasons of all time). Curry can hit those goofy little midrange shots. Curry can hit those threes. And what else does he really need to do to replace McCollum’s production? He’s not quite as crafty at getting to his spots, but he does have some craft to his game.
Curry has scored in double digits in every game since McCollum went down, including a pair of 20-burgers, and the Blazers have won all those games. Is he just getting warmed up? Again, people who watched his Mavericks days know that he has a lot more to give that he hasn’t been giving in Portland. In Dallas, he was kind of the best player on the team (Winshares don’t lie, except when they do, but they didn’t in this case), so he knows how to take on a bigger role. Give it a few more games, and he’ll be back to his old pre-injury ways, scoring 20 regularly.
