If JaMychal Green was hoping for some relevancy after departing Memphis (not really a relevant city unless you love barbeque or getting murdered) for Los Angeles (a relevant city any way you slice it), he was being optimistic. He might call LA home now, but the world as a whole still has no care left to disperse for burly 28-year-old old-school power forwards with no exciting elements to their game. His three-point shooting ability might have counted as “exciting” in, like, the 80’s, but it doesn’t anymore, not in a league where everyone can shoot them except for Giannis and Walt Lemon.
Indeed, Green remains as irrelevant as ever. Maybe even more so, because I don’t think I’ve heard anything about him since he got traded. He’s been fine for the Clippers, a decent role-player, just like he was fine, a decent role-player for the Grizzlies. Normally, decent role-players at least get a token amount of attention from their local media, but not Green. Everyone’s too busy worshiping at the altar of Lou Williams (who is still a total chucker by the way) and making fun of the Lakers for the whole Ivica Zubac deal (which was truthfully pretty funny) to pay attention to the workmanlike play and understated contributions of Green.
It goes without saying that I still care about this dude. True, I was a little peeved when he kept having good games with the Grizzlies and I had to keep making highlights that no one would watch, but that’s my job. I can’t complain, and I won’t complain when no one watches this video either.
