I don’t get the sense that Raptors fans have been very happy with Serge Ibaka lately. I won’t pretend to know why that would be (he hasn’t been scoring a whole ton lately, I will say), but I will pretent know that fanbases will always find something to complain about. Doesn’t matter if the team they’re supporting is first in the league or last in the league or somewhere in the middle. Fans will always complain, they will gripe about the tiniest things while pretending that they are major issues. I’m not saying that Raptors fans complaints about Ibaka are without merit, but I am saying that if he was playing absolutely perfectly, they would find a different target. Probably Marc Gasol, because no matter how good that guy is he just doesn’t look like an effective basketball player with all that flab.
Flab is not a problem for Ibaka. Maybe he shoots too many jumpers, maybe he isn’t as great at defense as he once was, maybe he’s older than advertised, but you cannot deny that he is in great shape. The thumbnail is reminding me of a certain all-timer who happens to be the second-best scorer of all time. He also did some questionable personal stuff, but I’ll pretend to care about that in a different description. Yup, I’m talking about Karl Malone here. If you told me that was a picture of Malone, I’d be like “yeah, it is a picture of Malone, because it shows a big muscley black guy”.
