Eric Gordon 26 Points/8 Threes Full Highlights (4/7/2019)

Eric Gordon has been extremely streaky from the three-point line this season. He’s also been very streaky in the past, but this year, the streaks tend to be more often in the negative direction than the positive direction. For every game where he shoots a high volume of three-pointers on a high percentage (such as this game, where he was 8 of 13), you’ll find two games where he shoots a high volume of three-pointers on a low percentage.

Just this season, Gordon has shot 2/13, 4/13, 1/12, 4/12 (thrice), and 3/11 (twice) on three-pointers. He’s also had many games going two of eight from three or something similar. Basically, he’ll just chuck three-pointers no matter whether or not they’re going on. Everybody seems to think that mindless chucking in those situations is a good thing for shooters to do, but I’m not so sure. Perhaps my latent, inexplicable dislike for Gordon is seeping into my objective analysis of him and causing me to be biased, but the Rockets might be better if Gordon was a bit more selective with his three-point attempts.

Gordon contributed a lot to helping the Rockets set a new record for most three-pointers by a team in a game (27), so I will hold back my negativity for now. Since negativity is an actual thing that is stored in my body and backs up when it doesn’t have a release, I might have to give my tubby kitty Japurri Purrker some play-punched on the tummy to release the tension.
