Terrence Ross only needed to make six shots to score 26 points. In the pre-three-point era that would have been crazy, and it’s still a bit crazy even in the three-point era. However, it’s not the most points scored this season on only six field goals. Bradley Beal scored 28 on six made shots, and Danilo Gallinari scored 27. Even teammates D.J. Augustin scored the same amount of points on the same amount of made field goals.
I don’t know why I’m bringing up that stat. I guess I’m just doing it to rub it in the faces of any Celtics fan who is masochistic enough to seek out the highlights of the player that single-handedly dominated them. Having to watch your players repeatedly foul Ross on three-pointers isn’t punishment enough; you also have to watch Ross hit some demoralizing fourth-quarter threes that left the crowd very disgruntled.
Since the Magic are going to the playoffs and Ross will certainly be a big part of their playoff rotation, I’m hoping that at least one of the national commentators assigned to the Magic’s games picks up Jeff Turner’s lame catchphrase of “Kapiyaaaaaaa!” It’s super duper lame and I feel like dying every time I hear it, but maybe one of the national guys can make it cool in an ironic way. I will do my part by yelling it when I’m in my self-storage unit practicing karate by myself. “Kapiya! Kapiya! Kaaaaaaaaa-PIYA!”
