Damion Lee 20 Points Full Highlights (4/9/2019)

Damion “The Splash Brother-In-Law” Lee is another one of those seldom-used Warriors bench players who offer my only hope of ever making a video featuring a Warriors player. Given that the Warriors’ big four of Curry-Thompson-Durant-Cousins monopolizes all the touches and shots (for good reason), my opportunities to feature Warriors players on my scrub-oriented highlights channel are few and far beyond.

When Lee scored thirteen points for the Warriors in November, I was hopeful that he would emerge as a consistent bench weapon for them. I don’t know why I even thought those things, because thirteen isn’t very many points. I suppose I was carrying over some of the goodwill I had for him from his rookie season with the Hawks, were he looked decent in some late-season games. No matter what my hopes were or my rationale for holding them was, Lee didn’t turn out to be a reliable piece for the Warriors. He appeared sporadically in games and, as mandated by his two-way contract, spent quite a bit of time in the G-League (where he averaged 20 PPG per game).

Twenty points is a good start in terms of becoming a rotation player in the NBA, but just one twenty-point game isn’t enough, especially when the game is at the tail end of the regular season when nobody cares anymore and the lineups are whacked out to heck and back. The Warriors have one more game, against the Grizzlies, and I want to see Lee score thirty. Only then will he secure his place in the NBA and live up to the Curry family name.
