For those keeping score at home, this makes three triple-doubles in the last four games for Delon Wright. He got the first one, thought to himself “that wasn’t so bad, I wonder if I can do it again”, and then did it two more times. No problem! Unfortunately for him, the Grizzlies season is over now (somehow they didn’t make the playoffs), and he won’t get a chance to get any more officially sanctioned triple-doubles until next season.
If six months is too long for him to wait, I cordially invite him to my local park and he can join our pickup games. I’m pretty sure, given the utter lack of talent present, that he would be able to notch a quadruple-double easily. Something like 21 points, 32 rebounds, 15 steals, and 14 blocks. No assists, though, because there would be no reason to pass anyone the ball. And quadruple-doubles are like four triple-doubles in one, so he can really pad his stats. Think about it, Delon. I promise not to pester you to film a little promo for my YouTube channel.
Apparently there were 127 triple-doubles in the NBA this season, a new record. It looks like people are finally figuring out that it’s not THAT hard to get them as a PG. Just camp under the rim like Westbrook for rebounds, then spam passes until you get the correct amount of assists. The points should be easy. If a guy like Wright can get 75 percent triple-double coverage over four games, I doubt there’s a point guard in the league who isn’t capable of getting at least one, if given the opportunities.
