Tyler Dorsey (who is Greek) had a successful tenure with the Grizzlies after being left for dead with the Hawks. Memphis seems to be a good place for role-players to come in and rehab their image; MarShon Brooks came in, averaged 20, and look at him now! He’s out of the league again, but still. Same with someone like Tyler Zeller. He went from sitting on his couch watching Bucks games and wondering why he got waived to putting up huge (for him and his prior situation) numbers in Memphis.
But will it be enough to get Dorsey a contract next year? That’s the question on everyone’s minds. Putting up 10 points per game for a horrible team is nice, but as I’ve said before, it’s no guarantee that any other team will see that and say “I need that”. Maybe if they watch the video I made of his 29 and 9 game and ignore the horrible OT shots he took in that performance, they will be convinced.
I’ve prepared myself for the possibility that this is the last we see of Dorsey for the time being. I didn’t go all out and put “1 Final Game?” in the title like I did for Jamal Crawford and Udonis Haslem, because even if he does go back to Europe for a bit, he’ll find his way back eventually. They always do. Except when they don’t (Erik Murphy).
