Delon Wright 20 Points Full Highlights (10/25/2019)

Delon Wright proved last year that any random starter-ish quality point guard can get hella triple-doubles if they just put their mind to it and their team lets them do so. I think he had three out of four to end the season with the Grizzlies, which definitely played a part in him earning a three-year deal with Dallas. I don’t want to say that his feats devalued the concept of the triple-double, but they totally did. How valuable can triple-doubles really be when a guy like Wright can just get them like it’s no big deal? It certainly casts a different light on Russell Westbrook’s “historic” triple-double seasons.

However, with his acquisition by the Mavs, the time of him getting hella triple-doubles is over. It’s Luka Doncic’s job to statpad his way to arbitrary statistical achievements, and it’s Wright’s job to help with that. He doesn’t get to monopolize possession like he did in Memphis, at least not the entire game. Maybe some of the time, if the coaching staff is feeling nice.

So that’s the first problem with this video. It doesn’t depict a triple-double. The other, more serious problem is that it’s ALL LAYUPS. Everything is a layup. Supposedly he attempted non-layup shots, but they didn’t go in, so all you get in this vid is 8 layups and 4 steals. Yeah, I even showed the steals just to make this thing slightly less lame. Don’t say I don’t do anything for you. Sometimes I do try to take the desires of the viewing public (example of a desire: not wanting to see a vid of nothing but layups) into consideration.
