Christian Wood 19 Points Full Highlights (10/28/2019)

You mean to tell me that THIS is the guy the Pistons cut Joe Johnson for? Harumph. That’s all I have to about this particular situation. HARUMPH. Screw it, we’re going two R’s here. HARRUMPH. Ice Cube is seething right now.

For real though, keeping someone like Christian Wood on the roster makes way more sense for a team like the Pistons than keeping someone like Joe Johnson. Johnson might have extremely limited value for a young almost-contending team who just needs a savvy vet to never play and give valuable experience. When it comes to basketball at the NBA level, though, he’s pretty much done. Wood, on the other hand, would never be listened to by ANYONE for advice, since he can’t stick on a team and maybe has a bit of an attitude problem. Also, he can get buckets.

He balled out so hard for the Pelicans at the end of last year that I thought it’d be more of a sure thing that he’d get to play this year. The Pistons eventually made the right choice, but he was facing another season bouncing around in the G-League before his 11th-hour signing. There must be something wrong with him that I’m not quite seeing, because it just seems like he’s the kind of player a lot of teams would want. You’re telling me the Warriors don’t want a dude who you can just put on the floor in any situation and he’ll start making shots?

Not only did he almost not have a team for this year, but Dwayne “COTY” Casey didn’t even feel like it was necessary to give him minutes in the first few Pistons games, instead furnishing them upon Thon Maker, who can’t even catch a basketball thrown to him, much less score it. Maybe, after this game, he’ll have learned his lesson, and we can see a steady stream of double-doubles from Wood until Blake Griffin comes back.
