Richaun “Rich Holmie Chaun” Holmes is what I imagine Willie Cauley-Stein would play like if Willey Cauley-Stein had infinite energy instead of literally none at all. Holmes isn’t as skilled and doesn’t have as much high-draft-pick clout, but he makes up for that by going all out all the time. In an indirect way, I’m comparing to WCS, which may “trigger’ Kings fans, so let me remind you that I did once compare him favorably to Giannis Antetokounmpo. So there. Does that make you feel better?
Hopefully it does, because Kings fans need all the happiness they can get. That fun team from last year that surprised everyone with their joie de vivre and camaraderie? Gone. Or at least, temporarily missing from action. In its place is a bunch of blowout losses, incompetent coaching, uninterested players, and general dismay. The Maloofs really did curse this franchise forever, didn’t they? I’m so sorry.
There’s a possibility that this game may represent a turn of their fortunes. Yes, they lost, but it wasn’t a blowout, they kept it close against a good team. And best of all, one of their players actually had a noteworthy performance (including two devastating posterizations). This is the third highest scoring game of the season for a Kings player, actually only the fifth 20-point performance. Oh my god. You know who I see here in the top 10 (prior to tonight)? Dewayne “Dud Man” Dedmon with his 11 points and 7 turnovers.
