Check out these stats from DownToBuck’s archivium of VHS tapes:
2017-18 Season: 19 Taurean Prince Videos
2018-19 Season: 5 Taurean Prince Videos
Even though Taurean Prince scored roughly the same PPG per game in both seasons, and was actually more efficient in the 18-19 season, I made way fewer videos. When I first saw these stats I started feeling all guilty and sad because I had apparently been ignoring Prince all of last season. Usually when I deliberately ignore a player and their highlight videos, it’s done out of malice, but I have no malice towards Prince. So what was going on?
Looking at Prince’s gamelogs clears up the situation a bit. In 2018-19, he was just way too consistent. He didn’t have a lot of big scoring games, but he had a lot of games scoring in the upper teens that would keep his scoring average up while not qualifying him for highlights. Meanwhile, in 2017-18, Prince had some huge performances (two 38-point games in a week, anyone?), and, also, his threshhold for highlights was probably a bit lower since it was just his second season.
So now I feel better. It turns out I wasn’t using false premises to deliberately target Prince for exclusion from my channel. He just was playing mediocrely consistent basketball the whole season for a garbo Hawks team. Now he’s doing the same thing for the Nets. I promise to stay on top of his highlights. Taurean Prince fans should always be able to count on DownToBuck for their fix.
