Bogdan Bogdanovic has not had a very good start of the season for the Kings. What’s going on? He’s 27, he should be improving year-over-year, but instead he has regressed badly. I’ve come up with some theories, but that’s all they are, theories. We’ll never know until the 30-for-30 on the SSS (Serbian Superteam in Sacramento) comes out in a couple decades. So here we go:
-It’s possible that he’s just really homesick, so homesick that he can’t play effectively. I was thinking this would be a purely funny list of theories, but there could be something to this one. I know, if I were uprooted and paid millions of dollars to make highlights in Serbia, I would still do it, but I wouldn’t be as good at it than if I were in my home country. Do they even have Pop-Tarts in Serbia?
-Perhaps it’s not him making the Kings bad, but the already bad Kings rubbing off on him. Sometimes it’s just hard to be an effective player when everyone around you is spending the entire game eating glue and trying to touch the cheerleaders. If he was on a team like, say, the Bucks, he’d probably be playing like his old self.
-Steroids? Or, more accurately, lack of steroids? He saw the suspensions already handed out by the NBA and decided to go totally clean. No more pure testosterone injected directly into the biceps. That shouldn’t affect his jumper or ability to score, but who knows with how wonked out his hormone levels are right now.
-Luke Walton is a horrible coach, so it could be a combination of Bogdanovic not being put in positions where he can succeed along with Bogdanovic trying to get Walton fired by playing badly. You can mess with the ratios of the combo all you want, but this is the theory I’m going with. Dave Joerger probably isn’t even doing anything right now. Call him up if you want to save the season.
