Anfernee Simons 17 Points Full Highlights (11/7/2019)

I should honestly institute a rule that a player cannot, simply cannot, have a highlight video made of them if they shoot less than 40% from the field. The stated exceptions to this rule would be:

-Player in question got a triple-double
-Player in question got a five-by-five
-Player in question got fifteen or more assists
-Player in question scored forty or more

It just doesn’t make sense to celebrate mediocre or sub-mediocre shooting performances when the very word “highlights” contains the word “high”, meaning, the player was performing at a high level. Or they were high when they were playing. But we’re not talking about J.R. Smith here. We’re talking about Anfernee Simons and his 5-of-13 shooting. Sure, he scored a season-high seventeen points, but at what cost? He played basically the whole fourth quarter while the Blazers pittered away their lead until it was a deficit.

Now, by the unholy power of the medium of video, observers ignorant of the box-score will watch this and think that Simons had an efficient scoring game. He didn’t even shoot 40%! That’s like the unofficial demarcation line between shooting “okay” and shooting “bad”! Wake up! The truth is out there!
