While assembling this video for you guys’ viewing pleasure, I was growing worried that every single one of Dejounte Murray’s 10 assists would be to LaMarcus Aldridge. Considering that Aldridge made 19(!!!!!) shots, that would be a reasonable, though lame, outcome. That would make this video really more of an Aldridge highlights package than a Murray highlights package.
Happily, Murray had one assist to each of Marco Belinelli and Trey Lyles, so there is some reprieve from the Aldridge bucketfest. Not to mention all the buckets that Murray himself made.
I was keeping track of the boxscore of this game, and when I saw that Murray had 10 assists early in the third quarter, I thought we were going to get a lot more than this. We were looking at potentially a monster assist game but it seems like he stopped at just the amount he needed to get a triple-double. Gotta save energy for those rebounds, you know, but I guess he didn’t save enough because he only grabbed 8 of those.
Come on. Rebounds are the easiest part of the triple-double equation. All you have to do to get them is run in there and grab them. Easy. It’s not like assists or points which are reliant on your team actually getting the ball to go in the hole.
