Spencer Dinwiddie 34 Points Full Highlights (11/8/2019)

This is the old Spencer Dinwiddie. Last year’s version of Dinwiddie, the year before that’s version of Dinwiddie. The Dinwiddie who took and made tons of Curry-range threes, the Dinwiddie who took over games. The Dinwiddie who teamed up with D’Angelo Russell to form an unorthodox but fearsome PG duo.

I thought the old Dinwiddie was dead. I thought Kyrie Irving killed him, as Kyrie Irving is wont to do.

The timbre of the Nets is different this season. Not all of the blame can be laid at Irving’s feet; some of it also goes to DeAndre Jordan, and some to Kevin Durant, even if he’s not on the court. The fun that was once present is there, but subdued. There are expectations. It is not enough to win half the games and make the playoffs.

Dinwiddie seemed to be a casualty of all this. I am so happy to see him up to his old tricks. Can you imagine that I thought about excising him from the channel because of how good he was last year? I imagined his trajectory would go only upward, how naive I was. We can hope that this is the beginning of a resurgence, but is it not possible that it is just the final dying gasp of a player whose time in Brooklyn has elapsed?

The Bucks hereby offer Thon Maker for him. Don’t worry about the details.
