How did this guy get into AND win the All-Star weekend dunk contest when I’ve never seen him do a really exciting dunk in-game? The past few years, I’ve looked at EVERY dunk performed in the NBA in order to compile my dunks-of-the-month videos. Which means I’ve seen EVERY dunk that Glenn “Little Dog” Robinson III has dunked the past few years. And none of them have been special. Some of them have been pretty okay, that’s about as far as I’ll go.
Attention GROBIII: if you have the hops to win the dunk contest, please use those hops in game to do fun and exciting dunks. Please. There is a significant amount of respect and prestige to be gained if you just do a few windmills and 360’s. Derrick Jones Jr. isn’t even that good at basketball, but everyone knows his name because he can bite the rim with his teeth while dunking. That could be you.
Warriors games would be a lot more exciting if he could channel that dunk contest-winning energy. Instead, the most exciting parts are when Marquese Chriss goes up for slams, because you don’t know if he’s going to offensive-foul somebody, miss the dunk completely, or posterize a defender. Robinson scoring 18 points might be vaguely exciting for a diehard Warrior fan, but with only 1 dunk in this game (with no replay because the replay they had for it didn’t even show the dunk being dunked), I’m feeling underwhelmed.
