One of my duties as an F-list e-celebrity is to expose and debunk the blatant pro-Spurs propaganda that infests the internet. It’s everywhere, not as everywhere as it was while they were winning championships all the time, but still basically everywhere. It’s unavoidable, the only thing I can do is challenge it when I see it.
Here’s the deal: People aren’t talking enough about how the Spurs just let Aron Baynes go in free agency. They had him, they recognized his ability to be a capable NBA player when they brought him over, credit where credit is due, but then they just GAVE UP on him. Just let him go the Pistons, where he continued developing (another piece of Spurs propaganda that constantly gets brought up is the idea that they’re the only team that could ever develop a player), development that continues to this day.
I thought the Spurs loved international players? I thought Popovich had an unreasonable hard-on for international players that leads him to discriminate against Americans (that part is true, by the way)? Last time I checked, Baynes is either Australian or New Zealandish OR New Caledonian. None of those places are America.
Hopefully the Spurs are enjoying their Baynes-less future, a future that is looking rather bleak if I do say so myself. Especially compared to the blinding radiance that is the Suns’ future, a future that is so bright it feels like I’m staring into the… SUN! Get it?
