I am just now realizing how absolutely SICK a Robert Covington three-ilation would be. I had a bunch of chances, like 4 years worth of high-volume three-point shooting seasons when he was in Philly, and I ignored them all. Am I just now realizing how wonderful his shooting form is? Did I not realize before? Because it’s just about the most beautiful thing I have ever seen. I don’t know why it’s hitting me so hard right now but it is. So compact. So fluid. No effort. Everyone drools over Kyle Korver and Stephen Curry but I’m going to be a shot-form hipster and ride with Covington’s from now on.
I bet the 76ers wish they still had this dude (or the dude they got by trading him, Jimmy Butler). They can’t shoot threes well at all right now, their best shooter is like Furkan Korkmaz, even if Covington isn’t the greatest percentage-wise he’s more than willing to bomb them like crazy. He had a season with 203 made triples recently, that’s exactly what the 76ers need.
The Timberwolves need it too, though. Actually, every team could use a guy like Covington, one of the few prototypical “3-and-D” guys left in the league. God, I swear the worst time of NBA “analytics” was when EVERYONE from Mr. NoName BlogPerson to Zach Lowe was freaking out about 3-and-D players. If I ever freaked out in such a way, I apologize, but I don’t think I did. I’ve always held this opinion, and I always will.
