Furkan “Kork and Ball Torture” Korkmaz is still leading the Sixers in total made three-pointers and it’s not even that close really. He’s got 28 hits from the deepzone this season, while Josh Richardson, the next player on the list, only has twenty. Korkmaz should definitely be commended for coming into the season ready to shoot with accuracy from deep, but his teammates should also be blasted for coming into the season ready to shoot nothing but bricks. Richardson (31%), Harris (29%), Simmons (100%), and Horford (30%) aren’t pulling their weight in terms of hitting their long-range shots.
The solution here is obviously to tell all those guys to shoot less while telling Korkmaz to shoot more. His release looks fast so there’s no reason why he couldn’t have a Stephesque quick trigger. And when you’re the best three-point shooter on the team, nobody can really argue with the shots you take, because how would they even know what a good shot is? They can’t make any shot, so, to them, every shot is bad. For Korkmaz, every shot is good. If he shot on six straight possessions and somebody had a problem, all he would have to do is pull down his shorts and invite the complainer to kiss his pasty white Turkish heinie. And then inform them that he’s shooting 39% on three-pointers this season. And also inform them that it’s not wise to initiate conflict with Turks given the current political climate.
I’m still astonished that I don’t have a GM or coaching position somewhere. Having your best three-point shooter take more threes is such a revolutionary insight that I would think a team would want me around just in case I happen to stumble into additional revolutionary insights. I am happy to work for as little as fifty dollars an hour.
