After tonight’s 7-for-8 performance from three, Marcus Morris is shooting a ludicrous (and I know I overuse that adjective but I really for real mean it this time) 51 percent from behind the arc. Capital letters for emphasis: FIFTY-ONE PERCENT.
The sad thing is, at this early stage in the season, that’s not even good for first place in the league; there are 6 other dudes shooting above 50 percent, led by M3y3rs Leonard’s 56 percent. But Morris has way more volume than all of them, so I’m going to go ahead and say that he’s the best three-point shooter in the league right now, with both percentage and volume considered.
At this point, it has become incredibly stupid for him to even set foot inside the arc. He costs his team points every time he decides he wants to try and make a dunk. And layups? No way. He made some midrange jumpers in this game to go with his sick three-point shooting exhibition, and if I was the coach of the Knicks, I’d literally slap him after each of them while calling him names. Has he never heard of analytics?
