The Hawks aren’t doing very well right now. 4 wins, 13 losses, and 2 of those wins came in the first 2 games of the season. They just keep losing.
But who cares how the team is doing when you can care about individual stats? Coming into the season, it looked like it was going to be a showcase year for Trae Young, where he could show that he can put up insane numbers without having to worry about team success. And maybe it was a similar scenario for Jabari Parker, a situation where he can just get buckets and save the winning for next year or the year after that or maybe never.
Parker scored 6 points in the third game of the season, in late October. Other than that, he’s been in double-figures every game of the season. He’s slowed down a bit with the scoring compared to his mini 20-point streak, but he’s still been hitting 5 or 6 shots a game. Even when he’s in a bit of a slump, you can’t stop him from hitting at least a few shots.
I will say that he might want to chill out with the three pointers. It’s fun to shoot them, I know, and it’s not like they’re going to bench him for shooting too many, but every three he takes could instead be a dunk. Maybe it’s not a 1:1 ratio, but when you’re unstoppable in the paint, it feels like taking a three is a bit of a bailout for the defense. This goes for Giannis as well. You don’t get to shoot threes until you can shoot free-throws, god damn it.
